Student International Work
The research and development performed by the students over the course of the school year is in preparation for its real world application in developing nations. Every year a large majority of the students who participate in the LEGS program at LETU also travel overseas with the LEGS teams to help developing nations in one of these areas:
- Local manufacturing and rehabilitation of the M1 knee
- Visual Literacy
- Rehabilitation & Outcomes
- Small Plot Irrigation
These students will continue to travel to Senegal, Kenya, and Bangladesh, to apply their exceptional schoolwork in the field. While they are not professionals, they do help teach the construction of the M1 Knee to locals, as well as do the research and testing that has lead to the development of the newer LEGS program. As the teams grow in size and scope, the LEGS program is providing essential experience to students who are going to enter the global workforce.
